The Wearable Orchestra

In the development of the “Wearable Orchestra,” the collection I created while studying at the Royal College of Art, I aimed to present touch as a tool to release sound. Using analog synthesizers and DIY electronics, I transformed knitted metal fabrics into instruments, producing sounds by touching the fabrics and allowing for new ways of human interaction. The knit served as a metaphor for skin, acting as an outer covering that responded to contact. By combining traditional craftsmanship with technology, I reflected on what the digitization of society means for human connectivity and explored a language we can all understand—one that brings us together in a time when we are losing contact with one another. The sounds were also produced through movement, opening the world of dance and performance as a form of communication.
